History of TUDOR

The TUDOR brand was established in Geneva, Switzerland in 1926 by a skillful watchmaker by the name of Hans Wilsdorf. Known for his time spent with Rolex, Wilsdorf had a dream of creating a brand of high-quality timepieces that served as a more accessible alternative to Rolex watches. The main aspect of the brand that he never lost sight of, was ensuring that TUDOR watches were equally as dependable as their Rolex predecessors, without compromising the significantly more affordable price point. Over the last century, TUDOR has separated itself from its competitors and distinguished a highly-reputable name for its prestigious mechanical watches. 

The 1953 TUDOR Oyster Prince model went through a series of extreme testing to prove its durability, precision, and resilience under extreme conditions. One of the tests included surviving on the wrist of a stonecutter, which put the watch through intense vibrations for three months. Another involved a motorcycle racer who wore the watch and raced for 1,000 miles. This level of durability has become essential when creating watches for the military, navy, engineers, divers, and other highly-strenuous careers.
